Engine conversions, done properly.

An engine swap is not an engine in a bay. It is mounts, cooling, wiring, exhaust, drivetrain matching and the legal side, all engineered to work together. That is the part most workshops skip.

V12 engine conversion into a Toyota Land Cruiser by USJ 4x4 Garage

We have put a Toyota Century V12 into a Land Cruiser and a 100 Series V8 into an 80. Swaps like that only work because the hard parts, the ones you cannot see, were engineered rather than bodged. Anyone can drop an engine into a bay. Making it run, cool, wire, drive and pass inspection is the actual job.

What a proper conversion involves

When we plan a conversion, the engine is only the starting point. The build has to account for everything the new engine changes:

Anyone can put an engine in a bay. The job is everything that makes it run, cool, drive and pass.

The legal side in Malaysia

Engine conversions in Malaysia are allowed, but they are not a free-for-all. A changed engine needs JPJ approval and a Puspakom inspection to be registered and road-legal, and the rules depend on the engine, the vehicle and the change being made. Most workshops either ignore this or leave you to sort it out yourself.

We plan the build to be legal

We take the approval and inspection process into account from the start, so the conversion is done in a way that can actually be registered and driven, not one that traps you at Puspakom afterwards. We will talk you through what your specific conversion involves during planning.

We are a workshop, not JPJ. Final approval always rests with the authorities, and we plan the build to give it the best possible chance rather than promise an outcome that is not ours to promise.

Diesel, petrol, and the sensible choice

Part of our job is telling you which engine actually belongs in your vehicle, not just fitting the one you walked in wanting. The right swap depends on how the vehicle will be used, what parts and support exist for the engine, and what the conversion does to the rest of the car. Sometimes the exciting choice is the right one. Sometimes it is not, and we will say so.

Thinking about a swap?

Tell us the vehicle and the engine you have in mind. We will tell you honestly what it takes to do it right, and whether it is the right call.
